Privacy policy

Last updated

Graph Paper Online (graphpaperonline.com) is a free tool for making printable paper. This policy explains what information is involved when you use it. In short: you do not need an account, the paper you make never leaves your device, and analytics and ads only use cookies where the law allows or you agree.

Information you create with the tool

Paper settings (grid size, colour, page size and so on) are saved in your own browser's local storage and in the page address, so a link reproduces the same sheet. PDFs are generated on your device. We do not receive or store the sheets you make.

Information collected automatically

  • Hosting logs. The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address, browser type and the pages requested in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
  • Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which papers are used and how the site performs: pages viewed, approximate location (country or city), device type, and actions such as printing or downloading a PDF. We do not send names, email addresses or other directly identifying information to Google Analytics.
  • Usage insights. We use Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors use the paper tool, through heatmaps and session replays of clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, so we can find and fix confusing parts of the page. Clarity masks text you type and does not receive the sheets you make. See theMicrosoft Privacy Statement.
  • Privacy-friendly statistics. We also run our own instance of Plausible Analytics. It uses no cookies and stores no IP addresses or persistent identifiers; it counts visits, referring sites, country, device type and actions such as printing, in aggregate only.
  • Advertising. The site may show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Seehow Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Cookies and your choices

Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and advertising use cookies; Plausible does not. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, these cookies are off by default and only set if you choose “Accept” in our cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page.

Elsewhere, you can still control cookies:

How we use information

We use the information above to run and secure the site, see which paper types to build next, fix printing problems, and fund the site through advertising. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Retention

Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months, then deleted automatically. Hosting logs are kept by Cloudflare for a short period under its own policies. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to answer them.

Children

Teachers and students use this site, but it does not ask anyone for personal information and has no accounts. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of personal information about you, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Because we do not hold accounts, most data about your visit is held by Google Analytics in pseudonymous form. Contact us and we will help where we can.

International transfers

Cloudflare and Google may process data in the United States and other countries. They rely on recognised safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be noted on the home page for a reasonable period.
